Hey! My name is Matt McDonnell, I am married to my beautiful bride Sydni McDonnell. We have one child, our dog Dallas. We both are involved in the local church a lot! Growing up a preachers kid I basically lived at the church from sunrise to sunset and more. After years of acting like a believer through my years of schooling I finally understood that I needed to accept Christ and learn and understand who actually is for myself! Since then God has pushed me and continually does about diving into His word. I may not be a theologian and don't want to be , I want to learn everything that God has done and is doing for us and share the saving grace that he has offered through his son Jesus Christ.
The threshing floor in the bible was a place that was used to separate grain from wheat, removing it from the outer shell. There are 3 main stories about the power of the threshing floor and how it relates back to our relationship with God.
We see that in Genesis Abraham took his son up to mount Moriah to sacrifice his son in order to fulfill what God had called him to do on the threshing floor. Then before striking, God stopped him and provided a ram instead to sacrifice. Abraham had showed his commitment to God and for that he blessed Him and his descendants.
In 2 Samuel, David had turned to his fleshly desires and took a census to see how powerful he was. This did not make God happy as he had became more confident in the numbers than in God. This resulted in God giving David options about how he should be disciplined. David picked the 3 day plague which killed millions but David finally realizing his mistake took up to mount Moriah and built a altar to God on the threshing floor. With David crying out and asking God to stop the plague the Lord found favor with David and stopped the plague. This was a turning point in David's relationship with God.
1st Kings, we see Solomon, David's son, build the temple unto God on mount Moriah. He placed the temple on the same place where Abraham was obedient to God and David was crying out and seeking Gods help, the threshing floor. This would be the place where God dwells on earth, until the messiah comes and the temple would dwell in us all.
The threshing floor is about separating from the world, obeying his laws for your life and worshipping God with all you have. The same place where Abraham had almost sacrificed his son is the same place the king of kings and the lord or lords, Jesus, will be hung from a cross.
